Louis Armstrong returns to Storyville

October 8, 2007 by Josh Harvey

Storyville is proud to announce that Louis Armstrong -themed "Jolly Louis" tee will be coming to our shops and to wearyourstory.com in October.  Jolly Louis celebrates the legacy of the New Orleans jazz master and cultural icon.  Jolly Louis is the creation of TrumpeTees and is being distributed through by our pals Dirty Coast .  Twenty-five percent (25%) of proceeds from the sale of Jolly Louis tees goes to the Louis Armstrong Educational Foundation and the Louis Armstrong Jazz Camp for Kids in New Orleans.

So you're probably wondering, "If 'Jolly Louis' is a new tee, why does the headline say 'Louis Armstrong returns to Storyville'?"  Well, let's consult the history books.  Louis Armstrong grew up playing jazz in the brothels of New Orleans' famous red light district (Storyville) in the early 1900's.  Louis Armstrong left New Orleans to follow the jazz scene to Chicago in 1924, and ended up settling in Queens, New York, where he died in 1971.  So, at long last, "Jolly Louis" is bringing Louis Armstrong home to New Orleans and back to Storyville.  Welcome home, Satchmo.
