Over 70 designers in two states... not a bad start

When Gabriel and Elizabeth were closing the books for both shops at the end of May, they stumbled across a couple of interesting facts.

As of May 30, Storyville Baton Rouge featured over 30 Louisiana designers in the Chimes Street shop.  Storyville BR is not even a year and a half old, and we've already got the best collection of Louisiana apparel designers under one roof .  And there are still plenty of rich, artistic communities from which we have not yet been able to recruit designers (Where ya at, Lafayette ?).

Ten-month-old Storyville Austin already features over 40 Texas designers .  Given Austin's size and reach as well as Storyville's status as the new kid on the block, we feel like we're only getting started in Texas' capitol city.

It's exciting and humbling to think that a young Storyville already represents over 70 Texas and Louisiana designers .  Many of these designers are students at or graduates of LSU , the University of Texas , Southern University , Baton Rouge Community College , Austin Community College , St. Edward's University and Baton Rouge Magnet High School .

The number of Storyville designers at Storyville is constantly growing  (keep an eye out for ClothMoth , Bearded Lady , Hairless Ape Design , Evolinium and Big Nose Little Dog ).  I suspect that we'll have over 100 designers by year's end .  While it's true to we've lost some designers all the way, don't be surprised if you see some of them return to Storyville in 2009.  What's up, Dirty Coast ?
