What exactly is "co-working"? Conjuctured knows the answer...

On Saturday night, Gabriel and I will attend the Conjunctured Grand Opening Party in Austin . Conjunctured is the first "co-working" space in Austin.  What exactly is "co-working", you ask?  Good question (we also weren't sure).

Co-working is essentially the sharing of office space among entrepreneurs or sole proprietors (people who don't have offices).  Typically, these indenpendent, mobile worker bees frequent coffee shops or work from home.  But this can get lonely.  Therefore, the growing trend of "co-working" allows these individuals to have work space, meeting space and, most importantly, human contact with like-minded persons in an atypical office enviroment.

So, will co-working become a national trend or just one of those quirky practices that works in Austin? David Walker of 302 Designs (Storyville designer) and Conjunctured certainly thinks it's the wave of the future.

You can read about Conjunctured here in an article that recently ran in the Austin American Statesman .
